Philodendron serpens is a beautiful, vining plant that’s part of the Philodendron family. It's relatively easy to care for if you follow a few key guidelines:

1. Light

Philodendron serpens prefers bright, indirect light but can tolerate lower light levels, though its growth might slow down. Avoid direct sunlight, as it can scorch the leaves.

2. Watering

Water the plant when the top 1-2 inches of soil feel dry to the touch. Be sure to not let the plant sit in water, as it can lead to root rot. In winter, reduce watering slightly since the plant's growth will slow down.

3. Humidity

This plant thrives in a humid environment, so try to maintain humidity levels of around 60% or higher. If your home is dry, consider misting the leaves or using a humidifier.

4. Temperature

Philodendron serpens prefers temperatures between 65-80°F (18-27°C). It’s best to keep it away from cold drafts and sudden temperature changes.

5. Soil

Use a well-draining, lightweight potting mix, like one made for aroids or a mix of peat, perlite, and pine bark. This will help ensure that the roots don’t stay too wet.

6. Fertilizing

Feed your plant with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer once a month during the growing season (spring and summer). Reduce fertilizing in the fall and winter when the plant’s growth slows.

7. Pruning and Support

As a vining plant, Philodendron serpens can benefit from a moss pole or other type of support to encourage upward growth. Regular pruning helps maintain its shape and encourages fuller growth.

8. Repotting

Repot when the plant outgrows its pot, usually every 1-2 years, or if the roots start to outgrow the container. Choose a pot that is 1-2 inches larger in diameter than the current one.
